The story of Professional's Choice started back in 1976 when founder Dal Scott broke his leg in a riding accident. Hoping to recover faster, he developed neoprene orthopaedic products. This was the start of Dricast Orthopedics, Inc - what we know today as Professional's Choice. Dal had a passion for horses, so naturally, it wasn't long before the focus shifted from people to equine equipment. The development and production of therapeutic products for horses began in 1986, when the brand was renamed Professional's Choice Sports Medicine Products, Inc.

After the brand was renamed Professional's Choice, the research and development team began working on what is now known as the original Sports Medicine Boot.
